Weekend in Tooele County...
I've told you before, I know that this blog is supposed to be about Tooele County Real Estate. But I like to think it's really about all things Tooele County. We are so blessed to live in such a great place.
For example, let me tell you how I spent my weekend. It could only happen here. As many of you know, I have an 18 yr old daughter that is a senior at Tooele High School. She's been playing competitive softball since she was 7 years old. If you follow high school softball at all in this State, you know that Tooele High school has been considered a power for the last few years. They've been to the State Championship game for the last 4 years, winning three and only a bad day at the plate last year kept them from being 4 for 4. This year was no exception, and Saturday afternoon, they played Hurricane High for the Championship. They were able to win 6-0, making them State champs for the 4th time in 5 years.
I was able to watch my daughter win her game (& play great!), then go over to Miller Motorsports Park and watch the worlds greatest sportscar drivers compete in the American LeMans series race. In case you think that we can't draw world class events to Tooele, how about the factory Porsche Team owned and managed by Roger Penske (who was here), the factory Audi team, factory Corvettes, the list goes on and on. These are the people and cars that will be racing at LeMans in France in less than a month!
It was a multi day event with no less than 5 different races, dozens of the best cars and drivers in the world, and 15 thousand of my closest friends! It was a great race, and it was covered live by XM Radio, Sky Channel in Europe , and showed Sunday on CBS Sports! I think that qualifies as big time.
Speaking of Sunday, I wound up my weekend at the same track in my own car participating in a Drivers Ed. program put on by the Intermountain Region of the Porsche Club of America. The local Ferrari folks were doing a similar event of their own on the west track. There were people from Canada, Colorado, California, Nevada and Idaho, as well as from all over Utah.
We had 50 cars with drivers and families spending their weekend (and their money) in Tooele County. It was an amazing thing to be driving on the same track that some of my heroes had been on just 12 hours before.
Like I said, only in Tooele County. Forgive the rambling, I'll get back to Real Estate soon, I promise....
