I think I'll blog about Houses in Timbuktu

I love to blog, I love to blog about Tooele County.  I love to tell people what's happening here and how I feel about it. I hope they will do the same.   That's why I was surprised this weekend to discover a blogger from Arizona writing about Tooele, Grantsville & Stansbury Park.  The Blog quoted local information & statistics and quoted local sources.  I couldn't understand it, (still don't) and felt like I  do when I see a for sale sign in a Tooele, or Stansbury Park front yard with a Salt Lake Agents name on it. "What in the world do those people know about our Community, and how can they really service those clients"?

Well it seems these people know a lot of stuff.  I don't know if its all true, because Arizona is a long ways away , but I'm going to list a few things and see if any of you care to comment.

Foreclosures up 93% over July 2006.

Tooele County home valuations jumped by 30%.

Tooele County raw land prices increased by 25%.

Tooele County ranked #1 in U.S. for job growth by Money Magazine.

Local residents are taxed @ 55% of assessed value of property.

Old Central Elementary School to become 28  Condominiums @ $300,000 +.

          Between 2000 & 2006 Tooele County averaged 4.7 % population growth.

In June, several Erda residents testified against rezoning 85 acres from 5 acre to 1 acre lots.

Grantsville leads in homes for sale over $350,000 with 18.
                     Tooele                13
                     Erda                     9
                     Stansbury Park     5

Any comments from you locals about this?  Love to hear them.

In all fairness, to read the entire Blog as well as source material, go to Utah Real Estate Az.

In all seriousness though, I would like to know why anyone would hire a Salt lake Agent to sell a Tooele, Grantsville or Stansbury Home.  If you have an answer, please let me know.
