Dream weekend in Tooele County....
I just had another of my dream weekends in Tooele County.
The American LeMans series was in town, with a 3 day event at Miller Motorsports Park.
The ALMS series is one of my favorites, for several reasons.
First, because there are four distinct classes of cars, with four different performance capabilities racing on the track at the same time, there is always something going on! This takes care of any people that complain of the boring nature because of no passing.
The second reason is the inviting nature of the teams and drivers. I spent many hours this weekend wandering around the garages talking to mechanics, drivers and even team owners. They were all very friendly, helpful and grateful to everyone for being there.
Yesterday, we spent an hour just walking the garages getting autographs from everyone from first time racers to racing legends like LeMans winner David Brabham. I also spent hours wandering from grandstand (they all have local names, like Tooele, Grantsville and Stansbury Park) getting several hundred pictures of gorgeous race cars from manufacturers like Porsche, Ferrari, BMW and Acura. But, most of all, I enjoyed interacting with the thousands of fans, old and new, enjoying the gorgeous weather, racing, and facility that is available at Tooele County’s own gem, Miller Motorsports Park!
