The Donner-Reed Museum celebrates the area’s history. Some of the artifacts in the Museum were gathered from the Donner-Reed Party crossing of the Great Salt Lake Desert in 1846. The crossing took a heavy toll, and members of the Party discarded wagons and supplies to survive. A more recent museum, the Grantsville Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum, contains artifacts from the history of Grantsville, Erda, and Pine Canyon.
Every Memorial Day, a large group of native Pacific islanders gathers to visit the Iosepa ghost town near Grantsville. Their Mormon ancestors founded the town in 1889, but abandoned it less than 30 years later. The Mormon Church built a temple in Hawaii, and many of the residents decided to return home.
Today, the Ford Performance Racing School is a popular destination in Grantsville. The school, backed by Ford Motor Company, offers one-day high-performance driving classes on the longest track in North America. The Two-Day Performance School gives those who love a driving challenge a chance to hone their skills.
Another popular place for people with a need for speed is the Utah Motorsports Campus in Grantsville. The Campus hosts a variety of events like the Utah 6 Hour endurance race. It’s a race for amateur sports car racers and admission is free. You’ll also see things like the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship of Utah for high speed motorcycle racing.
Naturally, since Tooele and Stansbury Park are only a few miles away, residents of Grantsville also participate in the activities in those towns.
