Tooele County Easter Egg hunt!

Saturday morning was the annual Tooele County Chamber of Commerce Easter egg hunt at Deseret Peak.   I'm sure most of you know that, because it seems that all of Tooele County was there!   My wife Berna Sloan was the organizing committee Chair, and she did a great job putting it together, with the help of a terrific group of volunteers.

We helped with the hunt in Grantsville last year, but this year it was decided to do a County wide hunt at one location.   We used the softball fields to separate the age groups, and that worked fairly well.   Last year there were around 1600 kids participating, and I think we'll find that we had at least twice that many this year!   We purchased and distributed over 5500 eggs with various gift certificates stuffed inside (thanks to the Tooele County Senior Citizens Center for stuffing them!) and a ton of candy.   It took 90 minutes to distribute it all over the fields, and less than 30 seconds to see it all picked up!

After the hunt, we had drawings for the different age groups and handed out some great prizes, including 8 brand new bikes thanks to the Walmart Distribution Center.   The weather was beautiful and the whole thing went off without a hitch.   Thanks to all of the businesses whose donations make this event possible, especially Mountain West Medical Center, Walmart Distribution Center, Energy Solutions and the many volunteers that helped.   We can't wait until next year!
