County Fair time in Tooele County!

I love Fair time in Tooele County!

It's a chance to remind all of us that live here that our roots in the rural lifestyle run deep In Tooele County UT. This past weekend at the Deseret Peak Complex (between Grantsville UT and Tooele City) was a great time.

From the handcrafted goods and homebaked goodies, to the kids with their 4-H projects and animals, it was a return to a more simple time.

Here in Tooele County, we're not as far removed from these things as many people are, and for that I'm grateful. I spent the whole weekend working a booth, and it was great fun to see folks from Tooele, Stansbury Park, Grantsville, and all over the rest of Tooele County having a good time, eating too much fried food and consuming their favorite beverage, adult or otherwise.

The weekend always culminates with the Search and Rescue demolition derby. While that may sound cheesy to some of you city dwellers, the Derby is the single largest spectator event in the County, regularly drawing upwards of 15,000 people.(That doesn't count some of the more publicized races at Miller Sports Park).

This may have been one of the most exciting ever, as they've added some old time figure 8 racing in the dirt. The action was great, as was the company.

Thanks to all those Tooele volunteers that make the Tooele County Fair the great fun that it is!
